Happy New Year!
Hope you are all well and excited about the new year ahead of you! It's a great chance to make a fresh start and I for one am looking forward to what hopefully will be a successful year. If like me you are fed up of this wintery weather this should cheer you up! The Spring/Summer collections are already hitting the stores, reminding us that the better weather is on its way! Here is a little guide of the key looks and trends that you will be expecting to see:
Key looks
70’s glamour
With 50’s and 60’s fashion on trend the 70’s also starts to appear with bohemian style pieces. Think long flowing skirts/dresses.
Biker clothing
Moving on from a decade of military fashion this is the natural progression into the new decade.
Punk fashion
You will see influences of punk incorporated into other spring/summer trends. Be careful with this one though as you cant afford to get it wrong!
60’s ladylike
With 1950’s and 60’s making a strong return you will expect to see some 60’s lady like fashion with shapes that accentuate the curves. The ultimate in hourglass dressing. For spring 2011 there will be fresh colour, prints and light summary fabrics.
Clothing trends
Maxi dress – its all about the length this season. You will see it in dresses, skirts and trousers. Length, length length!!!
Lace Clothing – antique style fabrics – Love this!
Tassels – You will see these everywhere…on clothes, shoes, bags etc.
Bell bottoms – With the 1970’s making a comeback expect to see bell bottoms return.
Wide leg trousers
Capri pants
Tail hems (dresses longer at the back)
Stripes – Still playing a dominant part of any Spring/Summer season.
Jumpsuits and playsuits
Crop tops – Last we saw the ‘crop top’ was in 2009. Its now back and is perfect for the warmer weather!
Accessory trends
Cat Eye sunglasses – tying in with the 1970s trend.
Belt purse
Shoe trends
Clogs – Particularly the brass studded wooden clogs. The clog continues to be a massive trend for this season.
Kitten heels
Not my personal favourite but the kitten heel is spurred on by the 50’s/60’s trend.
Now we just need the warmer weather to come!!
Happy shopping! :)
